A family was visiting an Indian reservation when they happen upon an old tribesman laying face down in the middle of the road with his ear pressed firmly against the blacktop.
The father of the family asked the old tribesman what he was doing.
The tribesman began to speak..."woman, late thirties, three kids, one barking dog in late model, four door station wagon, traveling at 65 m.p.h."
"That's amazing!" exclaimed the father.
"You can tell all of that by just listening to the ground?"
"No," said the old tribesman. "They just ran over me five minutes ago!"

		<description>For nearly 17 years I lived on fewer than four hours of sleep each night, basically for the sake of income. I had a choice, and that's what I chose. I could have gotten other jobs, or made less money, or done any number of things. At that moment, that was my choice.

Anyone who injures himself for profit is unwise. Stupid is more accurate. Anyone who thinks that money is more important than health is deluded. Human beings need between six and eight hours of sleep a night -- that's not me, that's a half century of sleep research. Insufficient sleep results in an ENORMOUS variety of ailments: hypertension, heart disease, ulcers, and potential damage to the immune system.

Stop encouraging people to hurt themselves. You can get away with a lot if you try hard enough, and you can fool yourself into thinking you're bosy is perfectly healthy. That's what I did.

It was stupid.</description>
