Always. I never compose directly into a blog input box, but a text editor (something like WordPad for you Microsoft types). I'll usually do my quick-and-dirty HTML coding (for links etc.) there, too. I save my drafts to disk, never to the site. When I'm good and ready to publish, I'll copy & paste. Another reason (besides the obvious) for doing this: My computer is old and kinda pokey when pushing a lot of Web pages. At least with a text editor I can get my phrases down as fast as I can think 'em. Drafts? Always.
