I’ve nearly passed my 9th month of blogging and trying to make money from blogging. As you may also observe from my monthly earnings reports I’ve managed the get my first AdSense cheque after six months and I’m expecting to achieve second AdSense cheque at the end of this month. So I will be receiving the cheque after three months.

I remembered the milestones I was thinking of at the beginning of this road and I was planning to be receiving a cheque each month by the end of 2009. While my journey I’ve managed to find ways of earning money from blogging and I’ve also saw that the best way to keep a good consistent earning for beginners was writing articles (Hubs) for Hubpages. Up to day I’ve written 32 Hubs. Considering that this is my main source of money I should be writing more Hubs and I should do this by setting my self goals. So I decided to write 6 Hubs of different topics each month. So starting from this month I should have nearly 70 Hubs and that should bring me double times the money I make now.

Also I’m very close to finishing my Technology Toy Amazon Store and when I’m done with the store I’m expecting a consistent Amazon earnings and an increase of the AdSense earnings. I should be finishing the design by this week and start to produce some content for the TechToyBoy store so I’d be glad if you check out the link and share your ideas here.

Goals for July:

-Write 6 quality articles for Hubpages.

-Finish the TechToyBoy store and start marketing of the store.

After looking for numbers and charts at Google Adsense page for a long long time, those numbers came into real cash at last. I have hit the 100$ barrier at the end of April and the hard earned dollars are at my bank by this day. Talking and writing about money doesn’t give much inspiration but drinking few beers with online money will be a great inspiration for sure.

I’ve received my first payment from Adsense at the end of sixth month. Regarding that it’s my first payment and now my earnings are higher when compared to the first days, I expect to receive my next payment in 2-3 months and I’m aiming to receive monthly payments from Adsense by the end of the month.

Hubpages has been the most important source of my Adsense earnings, considering the organic traffic it provides to my articles. My blog is a journal of my online money making experience for now but I hope that BloggerDollar will also earn me some considerable money soon.

This month I’m writing my monthly report with a smile on my face (at last). Thanks to major design & ad placement changes at Hubpages the CTR’s for adsense has gone up dramatically and I’ve managed to earn some reasonable amount from Adsense. I’ve just missed the 100$ in total with a buck and I have to wait next month for the money.

While earning money from Adsense, I was desperate about my Amazon affiliate earnings. I couldn’t make any sales until the end of month an just as I was losing hope I managed to sell a Sony CyberShot Camera (Although I don’t have any related Hubs about cameras). I am now thinking of whether receiving a Amazon Gift certificate or waiting to hit the cheque limit. I still don’t get how to focus for products at Amazon because every item I sell is unrelated to my Hubs. I am planning to publish a Amazon Store this month so I hope that things will get better with Amazon.

So end of story here are the numbers :

I am using StumbleUpon for a while now and I found it a reliable source for traffic especially a boost up traffic at the first times of the page. Although StumbleUpon provides a long term traffic I never managed to get a high volume of traffic, the peak traffic I received for a page was near 400-500. The story has changed last month. I’ve published a hub 10 Science Fiction Movies Every Sci-Fi Fan Should Watch. I was getting nearly 80-90 visitors each day (which is considered as a decent traffic among my Hubs.) Most of my traffic was from StumbleUpon and I was only hoping to keep the traffic steady. One day when I checked my stats I couldn’t believe my eyes. I received 4,200 visitors in a single day. The next day was even more surprising with over 10,000 visitors. The traffic decreased to 1,000 visitors in a couple of week and kept that way for several days.

When I checked for the causes of this high traffic from StumbleUpon, I saw that it was stumbled by a Power User (A user that has thousands of stumbles) has liked my page and his vote has drawn a major traffic to my Hub and the incoming traffic voted (there were many thumb downs). Despite of lot of bad feedback the traffic kept high for a week. The major effect on achieving the high traffic was creating a page which people will react. My page was a list of top 10 sci-fi movies and it’s not a surprise to see people react when their likes and dis-likes are in discussion.

The lessons to be learned from this experience:

• Being a good stumbler brings good traffic. If you use votes to express your impressions, you are more likely to attract more visitors to your Stumbled page.
• Writing on topics which people are more likely to react will attract more people. The more your topics are open to discussion the more visitors you will get.

February has been a good month (I still don’t earn any reasonable money but I am getting a good curve so there’s no reason to be pessimistic). At last I’ve passed the 15$ mark with Adsense earnings and I’ve passed 50$ on Grand Total. Google team have sent me my PIN code after 40$ so I’m ready to receive my payment when I hit 100$. I’ve also managed to sell some Amazon stuff from my Hubs. To my surprise I haven’t sold any of the items that I’ve been listing. I guess people are clicking my Amazon links and buying other items while surfing in related items in Amazon. In total I’ve passed 20$ this month.

The rise in my earnings are actually related to huge traffic I’ve received from StumbleUpon this month. I will write a detailed post about how I got a big traffic from StumbleUpon after analyzing the effects and stability of the traffic. As a result of the huge StumbleUpon traffic to one of my Hubs I received most of my earnings from Hubpages (without any effort).

My favorite writing platform Hubpages is running a contest starting from Feb 14 and will last until Mar 15. The prizes for the contest is worth nearly 5000$ and winner gets all.

For those of you who don’t know what Hubpages is; Hubpages is a writing platform where you can publish your own articles and thanks to Hubpages high Google ranks you can get organic traffic without any effort. Hubpages will give a clue on a topic for each day during the contest and you have to solve the clue and publish an article at least 300 words. I’ve been working at my day job which requires many travelling and I haven’t been able to find time for blogging lately. I was thinking of buying a laptop for using those times I spend on roads. I am spending at least 3 hours a day from my house to job and job to house and instead of sleeping all the time I got this laptop to create something. Actually I didn’t buy the laptop (don’t worry I didn’t steal it), my boss gave me one so I didn’t have to spend any money for my blogging actions. My boss is funding my blogging from now on. (Although he doesn’t know it:) Yes, Day jobs can be good sometimes.

If you are living in a crowded city like I do, most of your time is spent for nothing. I have a writing passion and I’m happy that I will turn that time into something I like doing. My first road project is a Hub about the top ten science-fiction movies, which was a topic I was craving to write for but I couldn’t find the time. If you spend so much time in traffic or travelling like I do look out for being a mobile blogger like I do. I will publish my hub soon (If I spend some more time at traffic it will be finished). If you are a science fiction fan like I am, keep an eye on my Hubpages.

This is the first month my blog is published and I have started monetizing my blog. In the first month of the blog I wasn’t expecting any income actually because of the low content and no regular visitors at all. I have started this blog with 100$ spending (for my hosting and domain name) and the worst case scenario for me is losing that money. Looking at my earnings I won’t lose that money even if my earnings stays same. (which isn’t likely because as the content increases and I gain regular visitors the traffic is more likely to increase in an exponential graph)

Earnings for November: 15,76$

• Google Adsense Earnings : 13,12$
• Amazon Affiliate Earnings: 2,64$

 As you can see I don’t use Amazon Ads in my blog because it’s not an item/product related blog. I am publishing my Amazon ads at my Hubs. I have sold 4 items and this is a good amount as a beginner at Hubpages. I have earned from Adsense from my blog and my hubpages account. I have accomplished my first amount with a decent amount for the first month of a blog and I am expecting the 100$ limit in a few months.

My blog has been visited 1,813 times with 3,034 page visits. The best traffic source is StumbleUpon for now. Referring Sites has %86 percentage in my traffic while search engines are %4,5. (Which is normal for a new blog) For a new blog social networking sources seems the best way to start driving traffic.

Regarding all the effort I am spending on my my Hubs created 1,620 visits in November with %60 of the traffic is from search engines. So you can use Hubpages if you want to benefit from free organic traffic without any effort.

Hubpages is a multi user writer platform where you can create hubs (similar to blog posts) and publish. The first question you will ask is “Why should I publish my articles in Hubpages instead of my own blog?”

There are numerous answers to that. You can (and should) use Hubpages if you are an amateur writer or a blogger running your own blog. There are other platforms similar to Hubpageslike Squidoo and Helium. I don’t like the money system used in Squidoo (At the end of the article I explain how Hubpages arranges the money) and Helium isn’t as popular as Hubpages. You can see on the Alexa graph that Hubpages has an increasing visitor trend.

I have chosen Hubpages because I am blogging about blogging and there are many other subjects I would like to write about. I discovered Hubpages at that point. You can check on my sidebar the Hubs I have published which are all on different subject. I can’t start a blog on each topic I will only write for once, in Hubpages you have the freedom to write on any topic and the Hub gets categorized for the related topic.

The out-most feature of Hubpages is reaching a large community. I have my own blog BloggerDollar and I know the effort spent to gain an audience. In Hubpages you don’t have to spend an effort to drive traffic. Hubpages is already high-ranked by Google and you get the privilege to write on a high traffic site. If you look at my stats you can see that my visitor count is going up and I’m doing that without any effort. As you can see from my traffic sources most of my traffic is from organic search engine traffic.

The Hubpages uses a royalty system which differs from other systems. You submit your own Google Adsense, Amazon and Ebay ID’s and your own ads are shown %50 of time. You can trace your own statistics by submitting your Google Analytics code so you can track your account. This is a huge difference from other platforms because you get your money from Google or Amazon or Ebay which is the most reliable method. You can also make money by using the referral system. (If one hubber signs-up through your account you get %10 of ad displays for his page but he/she still gets %50 so you get the extra amount from the Hubpages) If you are interested in writing you can sign-up.
